Clarke St Terrace

Type 3 new houses ‘Clarke St Terraces’ Status Pre-designed, house and land Location Rucker’s Hill, Northcote Interiors BuildHer Collective Landscape Tupelo Studio

A series of three houses for boutique developer BuildHer Collective; modern terraces on a rare site, spacious and situated high on Ruckers Hill in Northcote with wonderful views of Melbourne.

Each house stands with its own individual presence; each composed of textural natural materials and elegant proportions that harmonise with its heritage neighbours. Within, the design capitalises on the slope of the land - creating expansive internal spaces with flexible living over three stories. Behind a discreet two storey street frontage is a tranquil family refuge, a peaceful counterpoint to the vibrant nature of this happening inner city neighbourhood.

The three residences are inspired by the classic double storey Victorian terraces neighbouring to the east - with double storey frontages reflecting similar elegant proportions and attention to detail. While the floor layouts were designed to take maximum advantage of the beautiful city views to the south, passive solar design and sustainability principles were not forgotten. The houses each have careful composition of form, glazing and shading to control sun and heat gain as well as aspect.

In testament to the considered design as well as the excellent team, the project was well received by Council and the neighbourhood in general, taking a smooth path through planning approval.

Your work on Clarke St was so beautiful and well thought through which is why I came to you for my house. I love the floor plan and how considered you are when you design with the right balance of functionality and form.

As a client I have appreciated being heard, having respectful conversations but also being tested in my thinking.

I would happily recommend you.
